What is an Excel (xlsx/xls) file?
MS Excel is an application that is
developed and distributed by Microsoft for Windows and Mac system. It is very
widely used application all over the world because it has several useful
features like it is capable of storing large and huge amount of data, formula
and calculation features, graphing tool, tables and also macro programming
language known as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA ). The excel spreadsheet
has become popular and it was used widely when version 5th came in
1993. After this Microsoft has improved the features of the application and
launched several version of Excel. The earlier version of Excel such as Excel
97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 store the file with xls extension and later version of
Excel like Excel 2009, 2010 and 2013 store the file with xlsx extension.
